Spam stats from work
I gave a presentation at work last week, and one of the things that I talked about was the spam filtering that we provide. We use a great open source product called SpamAssassin. I installed it almost 2 years ago firm wide, and since then have monitored it on a daily basis.
Currently 79% of all incoming Internet email is tagged as being spam, up from 64% a year ago.
During the last 12 months (Oct 21, 2003 – Oct 20, 2004)
- Spam emails received: 1,760,166
- 89% increase in number of Internet emails
- 133% increase in number of spam emails received
484% rise in spams over the last 23 months
