Weird things with remote access

As we prep for our GroupWise to Exchange migration, we needed to remove an existing server from the network and reassign the remote access (PPTP) server to another machine. After doing that, one of our heavy remote access users is experiencing extremely slow connections. They are so slow that he can’t get anything done. We’re not sure what is going on because other users are not having the same problems. One of things that I don’t like about PPTP or L2TP for that matter is that it takes over control of all traffic by setting the default route for all traffic to go over the VPN connection. I know that I can much with the routing table, but that is something that I don’t want to have our user to have to do. However I will start to examine that possibility if there is some other way.
