Making a Little Money

Yes, I have finally broken down and decided to try adding Google Adsense to my blog. In some ways it feels like I am selling out; that I’m not being true to the Internet and what it means to be a blogger. But, at the same time, if I can earn a buck or two, why not give it a try. I’ve tried to configure the ads so that they don’t distract too much from the main content of the site. I’ll give it a try for a couple of weeks and I’ll see how much money I can earn.

In order to simplify the install, I used the AdSense-Deluxe Plugin for WordPress, as well as some of the advice from Stephen Collin’s site on how to edit a template (specifically a K2 template).

WordPress Theme: Simpla

Simpla is a nice clean theme developed by Phu Ly as part of his “a theme a day” week. If I wasn’t running K2, I might have gone with Simpla.

Updated Layout

Thanks to the server outage, I’ve had plenty of time tonight to upgrade my entire site. I’ll post later what I did and all of the changes that I made (and the fixes that I had to hack together). There are still a couple of things that I want to do and/or correct. I’ll try to get them all working shortly, in the meantime if you notice anything not working just drop me a line.

I’m now running WordPress 2.01 and the K2 Beta2 theme (links are at the bottom of the page).
